So you got your new Fire TV/Fire TV Stick set up and now you want to know how to get it “Jailbroken” well there really is no such thing as “Jailbreaking” an Android device. However setting it to up to “Sideload” 3rd party apps (apps not in the appstore) is pretty easy.
Turn on “ADB debugging” and “Apps from Unknown Sources”
That’s it “Jailbroken”
Now you want some Apps?
From back on the main screen go to the top left corner and search for Droidadmin in the Amazon app store.
Go ahead and download, install and open it.
The first app I recommend to install is MX Player Pro. Just highlight it and click it. After its finished the “download arrow” will turn into a “play button” click it once more to prompt the installation.
Then scroll down and to the right to choose install and then choose done when your finished to go back to DroidAdmin.
You will complete the same steps to install Terrarium TV (or any other apps) Terrarium TV is probably the only other app you will use but feel free to experiment with the others.
My guide to set up Terrarium TV is located HERE.
My guide to set up my build on Kodi is located HERE the build is fairly outdated and will not be updated until the dust settles on the Add-on crackdown.
Finally to clean up the downloaded files click the back button on your remote and select yes when prompted. It will not delete the code just take you back to the main screen. (This is also how you would “refresh” the list to check for new apps or versions by backing out and hitting continue)
Go to the top right corner and click the “trashcan” button
Now you might wonder where to find your apps. Located in the 2nd row on the home screen is a section called “Your Apps & Games” this is where all the apps you have purchased or sideloaded will show up. To get them on the main page scroll all the way to the right in the “Your Apps & Games” section until you see the “See All” button and click it.
Scroll down until you find the app you want (newest apps are always at the very bottom), click the menu button (3 lines) on your remote and choose “Move to Front”
That’s it the app will now be listed first in the Apps and Games section.
